Expeditors' Sea+Air service retains all the value added services offered with our airfreight product at a substantial saving in overall transportation expenditures, while maintaining reasonable transit times.

Cost Savings
By utilizing premium ocean carriers and our preferred air carriers to transport Sea+Air shipments, Expeditors is able to significantly reduce the overall transportation cost by approximately 15% to 20% or more over pure airfreight.
In addition, shipping via sea-air, instead of all air, enables our clients to minimize warehousing charges at destination if airfreight is the only alternative to ocean.
Reliable Service
Shipments moving on Expeditors' Sea+Air service move completely within our global network of offices and are always handled by Expeditors employees from start to finish. Since the Sea+Air process has been completely integrated within Expeditors' systems and operational procedures, it is considered within our core network just like an air, ocean or trucking shipment.
Effective Routes
Expeditors offers sea-air service on the following trade lanes:
- Asia via Dubai to Europe, Africa and North America
- India / Pakistan via Dubai to Europe, Africa and North America
- Asia via Incheon, Hong Kong, Taipei or Singapore to Europe and the Americas
- Asia via North America (Los Angeles and/or Miami) to Latin America
- Europe and Middle East via Miami to Latin America
- Latin America Sea+Air and Air+Sea to Europe, Asia, Middle East and India
Depending on market conditions, Expeditors is able to evaluate any alternative routings that may present a significant cost savings to our clients over a pure air solution.
Transit Times
Sea+Air is a median service with transit times falling between a normal air and ocean shipment on the same lane. Depending on the trade lanes, Expeditors manages to save approximately 30% to 50% over an ocean transit time.
In addition, some of Expeditors' Asian routings are actually used as capacity buffers, with transit times often similar to the all air transit time, but with much better performance in regards to space availability.
We keep it Simple
Sea-air shipments moving on Expeditors' Sea+Air service move on a single transportation document, with a single rate per kilo that covers all transportation and transshipment costs from the port of origin up to the airport of arrival.
Global Shipment Tracking and Reporting
Global visibility on all Sea+Air shipments is provided through exp.o®, Expeditors on-line tracking system. Additionally, Expeditors is able to process Sea+Air shipment information via EDI communication protocols. All reporting features also include Sea+Air shipments.
