U.S. Import Forced Labor Enforcement and the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act

March 01

8:00am-9:00am (UTC-06:00)

Webinar

Please join our webinar with the latest update on U.S. Forced Labor enforcement initiatives including the new Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). We will review actions being taken by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to address the presence of forced labor in global supply chains under existing U.S. law. Beyond the actions being taken under existing statutory language, we will also discuss the key aspects of the newest U.S. legislation on forced labor, the UFLPA, which will be implemented in June 2022.

The U.S. government’s focus on forced labor enforcement has caused a significant impact on many U.S. importers and we anticipate increased impact with the implementation of the UFLPA. Our goal with this webinar is to provide the most current information related to the forced labor enforcement initiative. The webinar will focus on the following areas:
• Overview of forced labor
• U.S. statutes prohibiting imports of goods produced by forced labor and government agency actions in accordance with those statutes
• Recent U.S. CBP statistics related to forced labor enforcement
• Examples of U.S. CBP actions on import shipments suspected of involving forced labor
• The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act
• What importers can do
• Resources to support forced labor awareness and compliance protocols
