The World Customs Orgnisation (WCO) makes significant updates to the Harmonised System every five years. They have published a new series of amendments that will go into effect 01 January 2022, and the changes will have a global impact. The Harmonised System (HS) is used by more than 200 countries and economies as a basis for their Customs tariffs and for the collection of international trade statistics. Each country that uses the Harmonised System as the basis for its commodity identification system has to incorporate WCO amendments and adapt them into their respective systems.
