Companies that export merchandise from the U.S. may be entitled to participate in the Duty Drawback program. Drawback is the recovery of up to 99% of duties and fees paid on imported materials that are later exported from the U.S. either in the same condition or as a component of a finished article. Customs estimates that billions of dollars in duties and fees that are eligible for drawback recovery go unclaimed each year.
